Tell me about my Car Tow
If your car has broken down, been in an accident, or is undriveable, a professional tow service is the safest way to get it to a repair shop. Attempting to drive a damaged or faulty car can cause further problems or create a safety risk. Car towing ensures your vehicle is moved safely and securely.
What is a car tow service?
A car tow service uses a tow truck or flatbed to transport your vehicle from where it is stuck to a repair workshop or safe location. Tow services are available for breakdowns, accidents, or when a car simply won’t start or move.
Common reasons you might need a tow
- Car won’t start due to battery, starter motor, or alternator failure
- Overheating engine or major coolant leak
- Flat tyre without a spare
- Accident damage making the car unsafe to drive
- Transmission failure or stuck in gear
- Car has run out of fuel
Why do you need a professional tow service?
A professional tow avoids further vehicle damage and ensures safety. Towing with incorrect equipment or methods can damage the suspension, transmission, or paintwork. Professional operators have the right equipment to tow all vehicle types, including low-clearance and AWD cars.
How do you know when you need a tow?
You should call for a tow if:
- Your car won’t start at all
- The engine is overheating or leaking fluids heavily
- You’ve been in an accident and the car won’t drive straight
- Brakes, steering, or suspension are unsafe
- You’re stranded with a breakdown far from help
What happens during a tow service?
A tow operator will:
- Arrive at your location with the correct tow truck
- Secure the vehicle using wheel straps or a winch
- Load it onto a flatbed or use a tow mechanism safely
- Transport it to a chosen workshop or safe location
- Unload and secure the vehicle at its destination
How much does a car tow cost?
Towing prices vary depending on distance and vehicle type. Local tows typically cost $100–$200. Long-distance tows may range from $250–$600+.
Is it unsafe to drive instead of towing?
Yes. If your car has a major fault, driving it can cause further damage or create a hazard for you and others on the road. A professional tow ensures the vehicle is transported safely.
