Detailed Interior & Exterior Report
If you’ve not see the car in person or you are concerned it has previously been in a crash, add the detailed interior/ exterior report and we will take an even more thorough look over the condition of the vehicles panels, paint, carpets and much much more.
Computer Diagnostic Scan
We will run a full diagnostic health check over the vehicle via our computers, picking up any current and historical OBD2 error codes.
This is highly recommended for modern cars.

Relative Compression Test
A relative compression test lets you easily determine if all the cylinders in an engine have equal compression.
Not available on diesel or hybrid vehicles.

Also known as a TK Test, this checks there are no leaks in the head gasket. A leaking head gasket can lead to your engine overheating and seizing.

We make the inspection process super simple, and you get a comprehensive report almost immediately after we’ve finished the inspection.
You order an inspection online
Place an order for a vehicle inspection through the My Auto Shop’s website or by phone on 0800 457 005.
Our Inspector inspects
Our expert inspector will go to the vehicle to perform the inspection. Please provide the sellers details on the booking form so we are able to contact them directly if necessary.
Receive your report
Once the inspector has completed the report it gets emailed and text to you straight away. Got a question? Simply give us a call and we will organise for the Inspector to give you a complimentary call back at a time the suits.

How soon after I place my order will I get my report?
When you confirm a booking with us via our website or over the phone, we lock in the day and time of the inspection. Reports are usually available for review within an hour or two of the scheduled start time. If there is a delay caused by weather, the sellers availability, or traffic, we will typically let you know if its expected to be more than a couple of hours. Please feel free to contact our Customer Service Team on 0800 457 005 if you have any questions.
What happens if they sell the vehicle I ordered an inspection on?
If the vehicle sells before we get there, we can either provide you a refund or put your order on hold while you look for another vehicle. When you find another vehicle you’d like us to inspect, we’ll transfer the details and send our inspector right away!
The car I am interested in doesn’t have a current WOF. Will you still inspect it?
We are able to complete all of the elements of the inspection except for the road test. It is worth noting that this is an important part of the inspection but there remains a lot of mechanical components we are able to provide assurance around in any case.
How heavy can my vehicle be to have a Pre Purchase Inspection?
We can inspect vehicles up to 3 tonne in weight.
How long does a Pre Purchase Inspection take?
A My Auto Shop Pre-purchase Inspection takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes, depending on which modules are selected. If you are a buyer, please make sure you advise the person who owns the vehicle of the booking times.
