Tell me about my Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignment ensures that your tyres meet the road at the correct angle, your wheels are pointing straight, and your tyres are centred in the wheel wells. Proper alignment improves handling, prevents uneven tyre wear, and maximises fuel efficiency. Over time, potholes, kerbs, and normal driving can knock your alignment out of place, making regular checks important.

What is a wheel alignment?

This service involves adjusting the angles of your wheels — including camber, caster, and toe — to match the manufacturer’s specifications. Specialised alignment machines measure the exact angles and allow precise adjustments for safe and smooth driving.

Why do you need a wheel alignment?

Correct alignment ensures your tyres wear evenly, your car drives straight, and your steering feels stable. Poor alignment reduces safety, increases fuel consumption, and shortens the lifespan of your tyres.

Common signs you need a wheel alignment

  • Vehicle pulls to the left or right
  • Steering wheel is off-centre when driving straight
  • Uneven or rapid tyre wear
  • Steering feels loose or unstable
  • Vibrations in the steering wheel while driving

What happens during a wheel alignment?

A mechanic will:

  1. Inspect tyres, suspension, and steering components
  2. Mount the vehicle on an alignment machine
  3. Measure wheel angles against manufacturer specifications
  4. Adjust camber, caster, and toe settings as needed
  5. Test drive to confirm the car tracks straight and steering feels correct

How much does a wheel alignment cost?

A standard two-wheel alignment typically costs $100–$150. A four-wheel alignment may cost $150–$250+, depending on the vehicle type and complexity.

Is it unsafe to drive with poor wheel alignment?

Yes. Poor alignment reduces grip, makes handling unpredictable, and increases tyre wear. While not an immediate breakdown risk, it compromises safety and can cost more in tyre replacements if not corrected.
